I train people in their personal safety on virtually a daily basis. It is very seldom I will deliver a course where someone has not been mugged, or does not know someone  who has been mugged. Despite this, the risk is very low (according to the British Crime Survey, typically less than 11 in a 1000 people will be mugged every year). The one question that remains though, is what you will do if you are in fact mugged? Will you fight back? Will you freeze? Will you flee? View the attached clip:
